Making Yellow Kanzashi Flowers

Step 1

Roll out some yellow gumpaste to a thickness of 1/8inch. With a square cookie cutter, cut out the desired number of squares.

Step 2

Fold each square-shaped gumpaste into half, diagonally.

Step 3

Fold one end of the triangle, so it touches the top tip of the triangle. Repeat the same for the other end to achieve the shape.

Step 4

Join the edges of the two-pointed sides of the folds in the back to create a petal.

Step 5

Place the petal sideways and with the sharp edge of a square cookie cutter, cut off the excess bulge from the back of the folded petal.

Step 6

Create as many petals as required. Arrange the petals in a circle to form a flower on a clean surface. Apply little edible glue or water to the sides of the petals to stick them to each other.

Step 7

Roll some gumpaste into a tiny ball and place it in the centre of the flower where the edges of the petals meet. Keep it aside to dry completely.
